1. Before I began the braiding, I made sure that my hair was brushed and tangle free, and sprayed Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray and leave-in conditioner and a small amount of Paul Mitchell's Extra Body Sculpting Foam throughout my hair and added.
2. Making sure that my part is where I want it, I separated my hair into three sections: the right side, left side and back side. I tightly braided each section, leaving around 3 inches at the bottom loose.
3. Now I go to bed....
4. As you can see, I woke up to small, crimpy waves.
the bantu knot method
1. Again, before I began knotting, I dampened my hair, added Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray and leave-in conditioner and a small amount of Paul Mitchell's Extra Body Sculpting Foam throughout my hair.
2. I sectioned my hair into 6 sections - 2 on each side, one on the top (I swept this one to the side to follow my cowlick), one at the crown and 2 in the back.
3. In each section I made a bantu knot. The larger the section, the larger the curl and I want waves. How to: take the section (make sure it's damp, NOT wet), pull the hair straight out and begin twisting. Once the hair is twisted, leaving about 2 inches loose, wrap the twisted hair around itself to create a knot. You can secure each knot with a band or bobby pin. I prefer the bobby, but it's your choice.
4. Now I sleep...
5. I awoke to small curls all over, leaving my hair full and untamed.
the hair band method
2. I part me hair where I will want it when dry.
3. I place a hair band around the crown of my head, over my hair.
4. Starting from the front, I take 1 inch sections and wrap around the hair band.
5. I continue this all around the hair band, until all hair is wrapped.
4. I sleep.
5. I awoke to perfectly styled curls, very similar to curling wand/iron curls.

Each method creates different curls. For a loose waves, use the braided method. For fun beach hair, use the bantu knot method. For more styled curls, use the hair band method. Personally, I like the hair band method best, its easiest and creates great, lasting curls. Try them out and let me know which one works for you!
